MARVIN HARRISON ACCUSER GOING TO COURT, AS A DEFENDANT

Dwight Dixon’s problems just got worse. First, the Philadelphia man was shot by a gun owned by Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Marvin Harrison. Now, he’s going to court today after being accused of lying to police. Dixon told police officers that he was shot during a robbery, later changing his story and claiming that it was Harrison who was the triggerman. Dixon’s lawyer said that his client didn’t immediately identify Harrison because Dixon was afraid of the NFL player. “I’m shocked that the DA is going forward with it,” Robert Gamburg told the Associated Press. Although no charges have been filed against Harrison, who owns a Philadelphia car wash and a bar called Playmakers near where the shooting occurred, the investigation remains open. Harrison told authorities that he was at his car wash when the shooting happened, admitting that he knew Dixon and that he had fought the man two weeks before the shooting when Dixon allegedly attempted to enter Playmakers with a gun. The handgun used in the incident was later found by police at the Colts star’s car wash business. Meanwhile, veteran criminal defense attorney Joseph Santiguida, an attorney who has represented Dixon in the past in a different legal matter, is planning to testify in Dixon’s defense. “I walk into his room and Dwight whispers to me, ‘Marvin Harrison shot me,’” Santiguida said. “He didn’t know what to do. He was worried about saying anything because of retribution if word got out and people thought he was a rat. It’s a street thing.” Harrison’s lawyer didn’t issue any comments about the case, and the Philadelphia district attorney’s office declined to comment. UPDATE: Dixon was convicted of a misdemeanor today for filing a false report and said he will appeal the ruling. A judge threw out two related misdemeanor charges.
