Since being fined $100,000 for refusing to speak to the media earlier this season, Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch has opted for a different approach.
Lynch meets the media and answers every question the same way. He’s gone with one word like yeah and thanked reporters for asking questions while sticking to the letter of the league’s rule regarding meeting the media if not the spirit of it. That continued on Saturday night.
Lynch answered each question sent his way by saying “I’m thankful” after an opening statement to reporters that they were about to step back onto the same merry go-round.
“Y’all want to try again, huh?” Lynch said, via SeattlePI.com. “You all are gonna try again? That’s what we’re gonna do? Gonna try one more time? One more time? One more try? One more try. We’ve got one more try. I mean, y’all can try all y’all want, but that’s what we’ve got. I mean, I don’t know what to tell you. I’m just — thank you. I don’t know.”
Lynch would surely prefer that reporters stop asking him questions, something that isn’t likely to happen. His answers aren’t likely to get any better unless there’s some further financial action taken by the league and that option is a tough one to take since the rule requires players to speak without saying anything about being interesting or interested while doing so.
