Saints running back Mark Ingram is dealing with another injury.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Ingram underwent arthroscopic knee surgery on Thursday that is expected to sideline him for six weeks. That means he’ll probably miss all of the Saints’ organized team activities and their minicamp in early June.
It’s unclear why Ingram needs knee surgery right now. Prior to last year’s NFL draft there were reports that issues related to Ingram’s knee had some teams dropping him off their draft boards, but Ingram said his knee was 100 percent.
Ingram’s knee held up well for him last season, but other parts of his body didn’t: He missed two games in the middle of the season with a heel injury, then missed the final four games of the regular season and the entire postseason with a toe injury that required surgery.
