The Panthers just gave Luke Kuechly a huge contract, and he wasn’t able to finish the first half.
The star middle linebacker just left the field to check an apparent head injury.
Kuechly’s head was down when he hit Jaguars running back T.J. Yeldon just before halftime, and he immediately wobbled to one knee. He then tried to stand and fell back to the ground, before trainers were able to get to his side.
He was immediately taken into the locker room, though it was moments before halftime anyway.
The Panthers can ill afford to lose Kuechly, and that’s not necessarily because of the five-year, $62 million contract he signed last week.
UPDATE 2:52 p.m. ET: Kuechly was not back on the sidelines when the Panthers came out to start the second half. Moments later, the Panthers announced that he was out for the rest of the game with a concussion.
