As the momentum continues to build toward the Eagles trading quarterback Donovan McNabb, one of his teammates has gone on the record to lobby for the team to keep him.

Said fullback Leonard Weaver on Sirius NFL Radio (via the Philadelphia Daily News), “Not a knock on [Kevin] Kolb, but I would love for Donovan to come back for another year so we can try to win it all.”

Weaver also said he was “surprised” by the recent developments, which have created a strong sense that McNabb not only is available, but also will be moved.

For now, the presumption is that the Eagles will trade McNabb to one of the teams that are making offers for the 11-year veteran. And we’ll continue to believe that unless and until the Eagles declare unequivocally that McNabb will not under any circumstances be traded.

Even then, we’d still think that there’s a chance he could end up being the Alabama coach.
