Lane Kiffin was fired as head coach of the Raiders during the 2008 season, but his coaching career hasn’t stopped moving.
Kiffin today accepted the head-coaching job at Florida Atlantic University, yet another step on a career path that has seen him go from the Raiders to head coach at Tennessee, to head coach at USC, to offensive coordinator at Alabama and not to his third post-Raiders head-coaching job, at FAU.
For a 41-year-old, Kiffin certainly has had a lot of coaching jobs. The son of legendary defensive coach Monte Kiffin, Lane Kiffin has also been an assistant at Fresno State, Colorado State, USC and with the Jaguars.
Succeeding at FAU will be a tall order for Kiffin, as the team has finished 3-9 in each of the last three seasons. If Kiffin can succeed at FAU, he’ll have better offers, and he’ll soon land his fourth post-Raiders head-coaching job.
