Kyren Williams scores 2-yard TD after Jets failed fourth-down run

The Jets gambled by going for it on fourth down in their own territory and it did not pay off.

After the Rams stuffed a fourth-and-1 run to take over at New York’s 33-yard line, Kyren Williams cashed in on the golden opportunity with a 2-yard touchdown run.

But Joshua Karty missed the extra point off the right upright, keeping the score tied at 6-6.

New York intercepted Matthew Stafford to end Los Angeles’ second possession, taking over at the team’s own 24-yard line. Faced with fourth-and-1, interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich elected to go for it. But Breece Hall was stuffed for no gain by rookie linebacker Omar Speights, giving Los Angeles the ball in New York territory.

It didn’t take the Rams long to cash in on the chance. Williams rushed for a 13-yard gain to start the possession. Then Stafford connected with receiver Puka Nacua to move the Rams to the 2-yard line.

Williams did the rest, powering his way in for a three-play scoring drive.
