New Eagles linebacker Kiko Alonso said after his trade from the Bills became official today that he’s excited to be in Philadelphia, and will be fully healthy long before the season starts.

Alonso, who missed all of last season in Buffalo after tearing his ACL in an offseason workout, told reporters on a conference call today that his knee is making progress.

“I don’t anticipate getting the full go in April or May,” Alonso said. “But definitely, I’ll kind of build up. By the time training camp starts, I definitely feel I’ll be 100 percent full go.”

Alonso said the Eagles will ask him to play a role in their defense similar to the role he played in college at Oregon.

“I feel very comfortable with the defense because I’ve done a lot of those things,” Alonso said.

Eagles coach Chip Kelly is building a team made up of his guys, and Alonso has been one of Kelly’s guys since college. Alonso isn’t ready to go just yet, but he will be ready to play for Kelly this year.
