Justin Herbert: Ankle is getting better, we’re going in the right direction

Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert has been playing through an ankle injury, but he says he’s feeling optimistic heading into Thursday’s game against the Broncos.

“It’s doing better,” Herbert said. “It’s a quick week and you have to do everything you can to make sure it’s right, getting treatment and all those things. As long as it’s getting better every day, we’re going in the right direction.”

Herbert said that after he was able to play through the ankle injury on Sunday, there’s no reason he shouldn’t be able to play through it on Thursday as well.

“I don’t think there’s too many moments in the game last week where I experienced any setbacks, so as long as we’re going in the right direction, that’s definitely the plan,” Herbert said.

Herbert said that he’s experimenting with a new brace on the ankle and thinks it gives him more stability, but otherwise he’s approaching Thursday’s game the same way he always does, and he’ll be ready to play on Thursday night.
