Joe Milton is a free agent.
Milton, the quarterback waived by the Cowboys yesterday, cleared waivers today. That makes him free to sign with any team, either on an active roster or a practice squad.
He’s unlikely to sign to an active roster, because a team that wanted him on the active roster probably would have claimed him on waivers. The Cowboys want Milton on their practice squad, but it’s possible that he’ll accept an offer from another team.
The 26-year-old Milton spent three college seasons at Michigan and three at Tennessee before the Patriots took him in the sixth round of the 2024 NFL draft. After one year in New England, he was traded to Dallas last year. Although he hasn’t done much on the field yet, he has size, speed and a strong arm, and there may be more than one team interested in his services.
