The first hint came in April, when Joe Buck declared that he’d like to spend the rest of his career at ESPN — with the caveat that no talks had commenced on a contract that expires after the upcoming season.
With the upcoming season coming very soon, both Buck and on-air partner Troy Aikman are entering the final years of their deals together.
Via Michael McCarthy of Front Office Sports, CAA now represents both Buck and Aikman. As McCarthy notes, it’s possible that CAA will negotiate them as a package deal.
Both signed five-year deals for Monday Night Football in 2022. ESPN pays Aikman $18 million per year, while Buck gets $15 million annually.
It’s hard to imagine both leaving, primarily since there won’t be many high-rent spots where both could go together.
One destination could be Amazon, where both Al Michaels and Kirk Herbstreit have contracts that expire after the 2026 season.
