With Colts owner Jim Irsay checked into a facility after his DWI and drug possession arrest, the face of the team may be different.
But the operations will continue as they had.
According to Stephen Holder of the Indianapolis Star, Irsay’s daughter Carlie Irsay-Gordon will run the team in his absence.
Her sisters Casey Foyt and Kalen Irsay also hold the titles of vice-chair/owner, but the business and football operations will proceed as they had.
General Manager Ryan Grigson has cited Irsay’s ability to talk through football matters, and he’s certainly been willing to sign big checks, as the Colts have been active in free agency the last two offseasons.
“He brings so much passion, football acumen, wisdom and knowledge,” Grigson said. “He has helped really guide me from the beginning.”
The big recruiting should be done for this year, and Grigson and his football staff can fine-tune the roster and prepare for the draft.
There won’t be anyone to update the Twitter account, but at this point, the focus should be on Irsay getting himself well.
