Jim Harbaugh shot down a question about the Chargers potentially trading defensive lineman Khalil Mack before next week’s deadline.
“I want Khalil Mack here,” Harbaugh said. “Khalil Mack wants to be here. He’s one of the pillars of our team.”
Harbaugh said he isn’t even thinking about the November 10 trade deadline and is instead looking to get ready to play the Texans this week. Harbaugh said General Manager Joe Hortiz and Assistant General Manager Chad Alexander might be looking at trades, but he isn’t.
“I’m focused on the Texans. I know Joe, Chad, our organization are always looking to improve the team,” Harbaugh said. “I’m focused on getting it turned, forging ahead, striving in every way to play winning football.”
The 0-7 Chargers are the NFL’s only winless team, and at this point there’s no trade that could make them playoff contenders in 2026. So whether Harbaugh is thinking about it or not, it seems likely that the Chargers would be willing to trade a player on their roster for a draft pick, if they get a decent offer in the next week.
