Jets interested in Rams running back Zac Stacy, but no deal yet

The Jets might want to add to their backfield, without using a draft pick there.

According to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, the Jets “have inquired” about displaced Rams running back Zac Stacy, though they haven’t made a formal offer at this point.

The Jets could use some depth, though they signed Stevan Ridley after getting rid of Chris Johnson. Chris Ivory’s a good-not-great starter, so they could stand another dependable body there.

And the Rams could certainly do without him. Even though Stacy rushed for 973 yards as a rookie in 2013, they’ve followed up by taking Tre Mason and Todd Gurley the following two drafts.

Stacy realized the writing was on the wall, tweeting “Yikes” and then deleting it when the Rams took Gurley 10th overall, and then asking for a deal.
