The Jets are doubling down on former Washington defenders.
They announced the previously reported addition of defensive lineman Phidarian Mathis as a waiver claim on Tuesday and also announced that they have signed linebacker Jamin Davis. Davis was a 2021 first-round pick by the Commanders while Mathis was a 2022 second-round pick.
Davis played five games with the Commanders this season and then moved on to play four games with the Vikings before being cut to make room for linebacker Ivan Pace’s return from injured reserve. He has 18 tackles and a sack between the two stops and he has 287 tackles, eight sacks, an interceptions, two forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries for his career.
The Jets also signed kicker Greg Joseph to the active roster. They waived kicker Anders Carlson and placed kicker Greg Zuerlein and safety Chuck Clark on injured reserve.
