Only three years removed from signing a $30 million contract in Jacksonville with $10 million guaranteed, Jerry Porter’s career likely wrapped up Wednesday in Montreal when he tore his Achilles tendon.
ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reports Porter suffered the injury during training camp with the Alouettes, the same team that cut Ahman Green earlier this week.
Porter was a dangerous red zone threat early in his career in Oakland, a player with excellent hands who gained over 1,900 yards with 14 scores combined in 2004-2005. That hinted at a possible long career to come, but Porter fell apart after he signed a big deal with the Jaguars.
