Jerry Jones thinks Felix Jones is ready for a big year

Cowboys running back Felix Jones was leapfrogged by DeMarco Murray on the depth chart last year, and he failed his conditioning test at the start of training camp this year. But Cowboys owner Jerry Jones remains firmly behind Felix.

Asked on KRLD-FM whether there’s a chance that Felix could be in danger of losing his spot on the 53-man roster, Jerry Jones snapped, “That’s a ridiculous thought.”

The owner went on to say that the running back he selected with the 22nd pick in the 2008 NFL draft is actually ready for a great year.

“I’m not worried about him at all. From what I’ve seen out there, he’s got a chance to have a big year for us,” Jerry Jones said, via ESPNDallas.com.

Through two preseason games, Felix Jones has gained just 14 yards on five carries, and reports out of the Cowboys’ training camp have suggested that he’s looking sluggish. Jerry Jones must have seen something out there that others haven’t if he’s confident that Felix is poised for a big year.
