University of Akron wide receiver Jerome Lane Jr. announced Thursday that he’ll forego his final college season and enter the 2017 NFL Draft.

Lane led Akron with 62 receptions for 1,018 yards and six touchdowns in the 2016 season.

Akron listed Lane at 6-foot-3, 220. He started his college career as a linebacker and played the last two seasons as a wide receiver.

His father played in the NBA and had one of the most famous dunks in college basketball history in 1988 when he shattered a backboard during a nationally televised game.
