Bucs center Jeff Faine may not be too optimistic about his teammates Josh Freeman’s ability to rally some offseason workouts together, but Faine is rather sunny about his own chances of returning to Tampa.
Despite a $4.575 million salary, Faine has reportedly received assurances he will be back with the team, according to Rick Stroud of the St. Petersburg Times. Faine has missed 12 games over the last two years, so there was naturally speculation that Faine could be cut loose.
The Bucs’ offensive line in 2011 could look a lot different. Tackle Jeremy Trueblood will be an unrestricted free agent and the Bucs may not want to keep him. Guard Davin Joseph is also slated for unrestricted free agency and could get a big contract elsewhere.
Stroud reports the Bucs would like to keep running back Cadillac Williams, who is also set to be a free agent. The team believes he’s one of the best pass protecting backs in the league, and an ideal third down option that could back up LeGarrette Blount.
Williams may look for a bigger role elsewhere, but his best option may be to stay put.
