Javon Walker gets another chance

Javon Walker is back in the NFC North catching passes from Brett Favre, five years after the knee injury that changed the course of Walker’s career.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports the Vikings are “on the verge” of signing Walker, and a deal should officially go down on Monday. The story makes a nice late August headline, but it’s hard to imagine it making a huge impact on the team.

Walker hasn’t been nearly the same player since he re-injured the knee in Denver during the 2007 season, forcing him to undergo more surgery. The Vikings could use some depth at wideout, but we have a hard time believing Walker can even pass Greg Lewis or Logan Payne on the depth chart given his late start.

Walker has only played 11 games with 15 catches in the last two years. He’s played more than eight games in a season once since 2004.
