The Los Angeles Rams did not trade up tot he first pick in the draft to take an inactive third quarterback.
They did it to get a backup, at least this week.
Per Gary Klein of the Los Angeles Times, the Rams announced that rookie Jared Goff would be Case Keenum’s backup this week, flipping roles with Sean Mannion.
Goff was inactive for the opener against the 49ers, and now he’ll be a play away from making his NFL debut.
While it seems apparent Goff wasn’t ready to start — few rookies are. But it’s mostly a bad look for a franchise that gave up so much to get Goff that he couldn’t be more prepared than Mannion, a second-year third-rounder with seven career attempts.
