Jared Gaither’s comeback was slow, right up until the point it wasn’t.
The Chargers left tackle, who practice fully for the first time Friday after back problems that cost him the entire preseason and three games of the regular season, is back. Kevin Acee of U-T San Diego reports that Gaither is expected to start at left tackle today against the Chiefs. He was limited in practice Wednesday and Thursday, which left him questionable for today’s game.
Gaither signed a four-year, $24.6 million contract this offseason, but his recovery from back spasms was frustratingly slow.
He’ll replace undrafted rookie Mike Harris in the lineup, and that’s good news for Philip Rivers.
