Jared Cook: Rams were “out-played,” “out-coached” by Cardinals

Rams tight end Jared Cook was among a number of players making a dramatic pre-game political statement last week.

This week, he saved the biggest statement for post-game.

After the Rams dropped a 12-6 decision to the Cardinals last night, Cook was blunt in his assessment of why.

We got out-played, we got out-coached, and we just put a bad display out there,”Cook said, via Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Asked to elaborate on being out-coached, he replied: “Not really. It’s pretty self-explanatory. We got outplayed and out-coached. All we put up was six points and didn’t get in the [end zone] not once tonight. That’s a pretty unsuccessful night if you ask me.”

The Cardinals didn’t get there either, but that might only make it sting more.

The Rams had just 280 yards of total offense, and had to kick field goals the two times they got to the red zone.

Like the Cardinals, the Rams have the small matter of playing with a second or third option at quarterback because of injury. But to Cook’s point, perhaps they were simply out-coached. That happens to a lot of teams against Arizona boss Bruce Arians.
