As expected, Tom Brady won’t be going to the Pro Bowl. In his place will be a rookie who hopes to be nearly as successful as Brady.
Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston replaces Brady in Honolulu, making Winston the first Tampa Bay rookie since running back Doug Martin to qualify for the all-star game.
Winston threw for more than 4,000 yards in his first season, leading the Bucs to three times as many wins as they had in 2014. Winston joins Martin, defensive tackle Gerald McCoy, linebacker Lavonte David, and guard Logan Mankins in the Pro Bowl.
The release from the Buccaneers announcing Winston’s selection as Brady’s replacement doesn’t mention why Brady isn’t going. Possibly, he’s injured. Or possibly he communicated to the league a three-word message, starting with “go” and ending with “yourself.”
