Jalen Pitre is the NFLPA Community MVP for Week 11

The NFL Players Association announced on Friday that they have named Texans safety Jalen Pitre their Community MVP for Week 11.

Pitre’s selection came after he spent his off-day this week handing out 300 Thanksgiving meals to Houston families in need. Pitre, who grew up in nearby Stafford and went to Baylor, also helped raise more than $25,000 to fight childhood hunger. Pitre hopes to eventually raise more than $250,000 in that effort.

“It is a true honor to named as NFLPA Community MVP and have the opportunity to shine a light on the food insecurity issues in my hometown community and support Kids Meals,” Pitre said in a statement. “I have always wanted to make an impact in the community, and there is no better way to support an organization that strives to make sure kids have food to eat and smiles on their faces.”

The NFLPA will donate $10,000 to Pitre’s foundation or a charity of his choice. He will also be eligible for the Alan Page Community Award at the end of the season.
