Jalen Hurts still in concussion protocol, unlikely to play Sunday

It looks like Kenny Pickett is going to be starting at quarterback for the Eagles against the Cowboys on Sunday.

Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni told reporters at a Friday press conference that Jalen Hurts remains in the concussion protocol after being injured in last Sunday’s loss to the Commanders. Given how close the team is to kickoff against Dallas, it’s unlikely that Hurts is going to get the green light to play this weekend.

“It’s going to be tough for him to make it,” Sirianni said.

Pickett has not made a start for the Eagles this season. His first extensive playing time with the team came last weekend and he was 14-of-24 for 143 yards, a touchdown and an interception.

The Eagles can clinch the NFC East title and will not be any lower than the No. 3 seed in the conference in the playoffs with a win on Sunday. They can still be the No. 1 seed, but it’s a long shot. They would need both the Vikings and Lions to lose this week and for the Vikings to beat the Lions in Week 18.
