The chances of Charlie Whitehurst starting at quarterback against the Colts are looking better.

Jake Locker missed a second straight day of practice for the Titans as he deals with an injury to his right wrist. After practice, coach Ken Whisenhunt said, via John Glennon of the Tennessean, that Locker was progressing and that he did a little more than he did on Wednesday.

That’s left Whisenhunt hopeful that Locker “has a chance” of playing against their AFC South opponent and that Saturday will be the big day when it comes to determining his status. With a wrist injury on his throwing arm, Locker’s ability to grip the ball will be one of the questions that the team has to answer when making their call for Sunday.

If he can’t go, Whitehurst would start for the first time since he was with the Seahawks in 2011. He started two games that year and two games in 2010, which constitutes the entirety of his starting experience over nine years in the league.
