The Jaguars have added a little more help at a position at which they are short-handed, signing rookie wide receiver Brandon Wimberly on Monday, the club said.
The 25-year-old Wimberly missed the entire 2011 after being shot in the abdomen, but he returned to play two more seasons for Nevada, catching a combined 167 passes for 1,834 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2012 and 2013. He tried out for the Jaguars in May.
The Jaguars had 7-of-11 receivers out of practice at the end of last week with a variety of ailments.
In a corresponding roster move, the club released offensive tackle DeMarcus Love.
