Hines Ward suffered a concussion

The Steelers initially said Hines Ward was knocked out with a “neck” injury even though it was pretty clear that he was dazed and confused after taking a shot to the head on Sunday night.

After the game, Steelers coach Mike Tomlin admitted that Ward suffered a concussion. (The team likely called it a neck injury at first in case they wanted to bring Ward back in the game.) Ward said after the game he could have returned, but he wasn’t allowed.

“He will go through his normal battery of tests after sustaining a concussion,” Tomlin said via ESPN.com. “We’ll see where we are in terms of next week.”

The 6-3 Steelers host the 5-4 Raiders next week in one of the more intriguing matchups of the Week Eleven slate.
