Hall of Fame tackle Ron Mix faces up to three years in prison after pleading guilty to tax fraud.
According to Tony Rizzo of the Kansas City Star, Mix pleaded guilty in federal court to charges regarding athletes he represented in worker’s compensation claims.
The 78-year-old Mix paid a non-lawyer for referrals on clients, which is illegal. Instead of paying that person, Mix donated $155,000 to a charity the person operates over a four-year period.
Mix played for the Raiders for one year, but is known for his time with the Chargers. He was voted to the AFL’s all-time team, and was enshrined into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1979.
