Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski created a stir after Super Bowl XLVI by attending the team’s non-victory party at Victory Field and dancing/jumping/whatever it was without a shirt on his bad ankle.

Some, including former Patriots safety Rodney Harrison, criticized Gronkowski. Others, including Patriots president Jonathan Kraft, thought it was no big deal.

Gronkowski, who had surgery on the injured ankle five days later, had been silent on the matter, until today. As part of the Celebrity Call-In Contest at 97.5 The Fanatic in Philly, Gronkowski appeared on Mike Missanelli’s show and addressed his shirtless dancing/jumping/whatever it was without a shirt on his bad ankle.

“It is what it is,” Gronkowski said. “We were just having fun with my brothers and stuff . . . family I haven’t seen in a while . . . and the chance of hanging out with LMFAO was pretty cool too. . . . Unfortunately we didn’t win and that was the number 1 goal.”

Coincidentally, “it is what it is” will be the name of the next piece synth-pop, electro-drum, two-lines-of-lyrics, auto-tuned “music” from LMFAO.
