The Giants are hoping to change their fortunes after four straight seasons out of the playoffs and a change in uniforms is going to be part of their approach.

The team announced on Monday that they will wear white pants for all eight of their home games during the regular season. The team has occasionally worn white pants for home games in recent seasons (they were 1-1 in white last year with a win over the Redskins and a loss to the Patriots), but it has not been a primary part of their uniform since switching to grey pants after the 1999 season.

The Giants will stick with their blue jerseys at home, so anyone pining for a return of the red jersey that used to make the odd appearance here or there will have to light another candle.

They’ll also keep their familiar white jersey/grey pants combo on the road outside of Week 16 when they’ll unveil their take on the Color Rush uniforms in Philadelphia during a Thursday night game against the Eagles. The look of those uniforms is unknown at this point, but they’re likely to generate some strong opinions if last year’s experiments with the one-color looks are any guide.
