2008 second-round pick Devin Thomas has been released by receiver-needy Redskins and Panthers this year, which isn’t a great sign for his long-term football future.
His immediate prospects improved on Wednesday, though, when the Giants claimed Thomas off waivers from Carolina, according to Mike Garafolo of the Newark Star Ledger. To open up a roster spot, the team placed fullback Madison Hedgecock on injured reserve.
With Steve Smith and Hakeem Nicks injured, players like Derek Hagan, Duke Calhoun, and Thomas will play significant roles against the Jaguars on Sunday.
