The Saints will play the rest of the 2011 season without one of their heroes from the 2009 Super Bowl season.

New Orleans placed kicker Garrett Hartley on injured reserve Tuesday, ending his season. They also cut defensive tackle Mitch King.

Hartley injured his hip in the preseason and it was believed to be a two month injury. John Kasay has hit all six of his field goal attempts this year, which perhaps made it easier to put Hartley on I.R.

The Saints figure to pick up offensive line help this week. Tackle Zach Strief and center Olin Kreutz were both hurt in Sunday’s win over Houston.
