Frank Gansz Passes

Former NFL head coach and long-time assistant Frank Gansz died Monday, only five days after undergoing knee replacement surgery. Gansz, 70, coached the Chiefs in 1987 and 1988. “On behalf of my family and the entire Kansas City Chiefs organization, we are deeply saddened by the loss of Frank Gansz,” Chiefs owner Clark Hunt said in a team-issued release. “In his over 30 years in football, Frank was a tremendous coach, a beloved teacher and an outstanding person. He will be missed.” He served as special teams coordinator with the Jaguars, Falcons, Rams, Lions, Eagles, Bengals, and 49ers. He won a Super Bowl ring with the 1999 Rams. Gansz worked as special teams coach at SMU in 2008. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Gansz and his family.
