Former Falcons defensive tackle Peria Jerry is in custody in Pontotoc County, Mississippi, the county sheriff’s department confirmed to PFT on Friday.
The sheriff’s department said Jerry was taken into custody on Thursday but did not have any other information, including the nature of the charges Jerry could be facing. More information could be forthcoming later Friday, the sheriff’s office said.
An online police record shows Jerry presumably in custody, and the birth date on the booking record — August 23, 1984 — matches Jerry’s date of birth in online NFL and collegiate biographies. PFT confirmed the date of birth with the sheriff’s department.
The 30-year-old Jerry played for Atlanta from 2009 through 2013. He retired in July 2014. Perry hails from Batesville, Mississippi and played collegiately at Ole Miss.
