Florida defensive tackle Dominique Easley suffered a torn ACL in practice on Tuesday and is now focused on getting ready for the 2014 NFL draft.
Gators coach Will Muschamp told Robbie Andreu of the Gainesville Sun that Easley will not consider asking the NCAA for a medical redshirt and is ready to play professionally.
“He’s definitely going to the NFL,” Muschamp said. “A lot of organizations will want him.”
At 6-foot-2 and 280 pounds, Easley is small by the standards of NFL defensive tackles, but he’s been a very productive player and was beginning his third season as a starter. Unfortunately, Easley has now suffered torn ACLs in both of his knees, and that will be a major red flag for NFL teams. At least the next time he puts his health on the line, he’ll be getting paid for it.
