Jets running back Mike Goodson was just the passenger this morning, but he’s far from off the hook.

Goodson was charged with five gun and drug counts Friday morning, after New Jersey State Police found the car he was riding in parked in the middle of Route 80 in Denville, N.J.

According to the release from the NJSP, a tow driver called 911 after finding a gray SUV parked in the center-left lane of the highway. The driver, Garant Evans, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated. Medics on the scene determined Goodson needed to be transported to the hospital, and a small amount of marijuana was found on him.

A subsequent search of the vehicle found a loaded gun and more marijuana. Goodson was taken back to Morris County Jail after he was released from the hospital, and charged with possession of marijuana (under 50 grams), possession of drug paraphernalia, unlawful possession of a handgun, possession of a loaded handgun and possession of hollow point ammunition.

Goodson’s bail was set at $50,000.

So far, the Jets haven’t said much, while they gather information.
