The Eagles are doing everything possible to improve their sagging defense before a new collective bargaining agreement is reached.
A week after signing CFL pass rusher Phillip Hunt, the Eagles announced Sunday they signed linebacker Rashad Jeanty to a one-year contract. Jeanty last played for the Bengals in 2009, but missed the entire 2010 season because of a fractured left tibia/ankle suffered against the Jets in Cincinnati’s wild card loss in January 2010.
This is a low-risk, medium reward signing. Jeanty was undrafted coming out of Central Florida, but proved to be a versatile and solid run-stopper for the Bengals for four seasons. He started 32 games in four years and can back up multiple positions.
