The Philadelphia Eagles selected former University of Arizona quarterback Nick Foles with the 88th overall pick in the draft.
A 6-foot-5, 244-pounder, Foles started 33 games at U of A after transferring from Michigan State. His career record was 15-18, though Foles posted a 66.9 completion rate and 67:33 touchdown-to-interception ratio. He excelled on checkdown passes in college and isn’t much of an athlete.
Considering Eagles coach Andy Reid’s history with developmental quarterbacks, though, Foles could wind up being traded for a second-round pick in a couple of years. This season, Foles figures to compete with Mike Kafka and Trent Edwards for Philadelphia’s No. 2 quarterback job behind Michael Vick.
