Patriots quarterback Drake Maye’s first three games raised a lot of red flags around New England, but they are harder to find after last Sunday’s win over the Bills.
Maye went 22-of-37 for 269 yards and three touchdowns, including one that wide receiver Efton Chism used one hand to secure for the winning points in a 29-26 victory. Maye also ran eight times for 54 yards.
The NFL announced on Wednesday that the performance landed Maye recognition as the AFC offensive player of the week. It is the second time that Maye has won the award.
Maye did have a pair of turnovers in the game after having seven in the first three games, so there’s still some work to do to get back to his 2025 level of play. The overall effort provided reason to believe that can happen and that was the best development of the week for the Patriots.
