The Dolphins kept their focus even after receiver Grant DuBose’s scary departure for a local hospital.
Nine plays after safety Calen Bullock’s illegal hit that sent DuBose to an awaiting ambulance, the Dolphins scored on a 7-yard touchdown throw from Tua Tagovailoa to tight end Jonnu Smith. Jason Sanders missed the extra point, leaving the Dolphins trailing 20-12.
The Dolphins kicked a 30-yard field goal on the play before the touchdown, but Texans defensive back M.J. Stewart was offsides. Miami took the points off the board and went for it on fourth-and-2, with Smith scoring on the play.
Tagovailoa is 23-of-30 for 157 yards with a touchdown and an interception, with Malik Washington catching four for 47. Smith has seven catches for 39 yards.
The Dolphins have outgained the Texans 193 to 152 through three quarters.
