There hasn’t been much offense to speak of on the shores of Lake Erie on Sunday afternoon.
But the Dolphins got a 39-yard field goal as time expired in the first half to go up 6-3 on the Browns.
Quarterback Tyler Huntley — playing for an injured Tua Tagovialoa — was able to hit a 9-yard pass and spike the ball to stop the clock with just one second left to set up the score at the end of the second quarter.
Huntley finished the first half 13-of-16 for 143 yards. Tyreek Hill has five catches for 69 yards.
Miami has just nine first downs and is 0-of-5 on third down. Jason Sanders also hit a 54-yard field goal to open the scoring midway through the first quarter.
Cleveland quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson is 7-of-15 for 58 yards with an interception — the 10th of his career. He is the only player this century with at least 10 interceptions and just one or zero touchdown passes.
Dustin Hopkins, who has struggled mightily this season, scored the team’s only points with a 25-yard field goal early in the second quarter.
Running back Jerome Ford had to exit the game with an ankle injury and is questionable to return.
Notably, Miami left tackle Terron Armstead went down after making a tackle on a Huntley interception that was overturned because Cleveland committed defensive pass interference. Patrick Paul came in to replace him at left tackle.
The Dolphins need a victory to stay alive for the No. 7 seed in the AFC. But a Browns win would bring the Rams another step closer to clinching the NFC West.
