When Bill Parcells took the reins of the Dolphins in 2008, he famously (notoriously) said that he will avoid “thugs and hoodlums.”
Though it’s unclear whether tight end Evan Rodriguez falls into that category, he’s been arrested twice this offseason. And his history of off-field issues greased the skids to round four of the 2012 draft.
That hasn’t stopped the man Parcells hired to run the front office from claiming Rodriguez on waivers. Per multiple reports, the former Bear is now a Dolphin.
The move further proves that G.M. Jeff Ireland’s main objective is winning. With Rodriguez most likely not facing a suspension for a first-offense DUI (his latest infraction), the Dolphins could get a talented and motivated player.
If he’s lacking in either area, it’ll be a low-risk audition for the Dolphins, which won’t last long.
