Wide receiver Diontae Johnson has bounced around the league this year, but he said on Monday that his focus is on the Texans rather than anything that happened in his previous stop.
Johnson was traded by the Steelers to the Panthers before the season and was then acquired by the Ravens in an October trade with Carolina. His played four games for the Ravens before being suspended for refusing to enter a game. He was waived ahead of Week 16 and claimed by the Texans as they tried to address a wide receiving corps that lost Tank Dell to a knee injury.
On Monday, Johnson told reporters he wants to keep his attention on facing Tennessee this week and then moving into the playoffs with his new team.
“Just to be here, fresh start, getting around the guys just being here to actually be in the building and not worry about everything that’s been going on, just focus on the Titans and learning plays, I’m just taking it one day at a time,” Johnson said, via Aaron Wilson of KPRC. “I want to leave that in the past. Fresh start here.”
Johnson said that he sees himself “fitting in real well” and said he’s open to “doing whatever the coaches asks of me” as he tries to have a more pleasant stay in Houston than he had with his last two teams.
