Titans rookie running back Derrick Henry is the reigning Heisman Trophy winner and got off to a good start in his first preseason game, so you’d think his jersey would be flying off the shelves. But there’s just one problem: Henry doesn’t have a jersey number.

Henry is wearing No. 2 in the preseason, but NFL rules only allow running backs to wear numbers from 20 to 49 in the regular season. So at some point, after some of the players currently wearing Nos. 20-49 get cut, Henry will get a new number.

“We’re just trying to wait and see what numbers come available,” Henry said, via ESPN. “If a number comes available that he wants, then we’ll try to work something out. We’re still not sure yet, we just have to wait. I’m anxious too to find our what number I will wear.”

Henry is hoping to persuade cornerback Perrish Cox to give up No. 24.

“I just think 24 is a good running back number,” he said. “Perrish is a good dude. We’ll have to see.”

If Henry shows Cox the money, No. 24 will be his. If not, Henry will have to find some other number. Fans wanting his jersey will have to wait until Henry makes up his mind.
