The Cowboys brought three linebackers in for workouts on Tuesday and they picked one to join their 90-man roster.
James Morris got the nod over Emmanuel Acho and Quayshawn Nealy. The Cowboys were in need of another body at linebacker with Rolando McClain not at camp and Damien Wilson on the non-football injury list.
Morris played six games for the Giants last season and made a pair of tackles. He entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Patriots in 2014 and spent the year on injured reserve.
He may not be the only addition to the defense this week. Executive vice president Stephen Jones said that the team plans to look at more players during their day off on Wednesday and mentioned defensive tackle as a spot of interest with Tyrone Crawford dealing with a back injury at the moment.
