When we received the e-mail from TMZ.com announcing the exclusive news that Casey Johnson, the 30-year-old daughter of Jets owner Woody Johnson, had died, we decided that it didn’t merit a mention.
But then we checked the Twitter page of Casey Johnson’s fiancee, Tila Tequila (yep, the same one), who says that Johnson is actually in a coma and not dead.
Casey Johnson was arrested in November for grand theft, after allegedly stealing items from a former girlfriend.
We’ll provide further updates a events warrant.
UPDATE: The New York Daily News also reports that Casey Johnson has died. “The Johnson family is mourning its tragic loss, and asks for privacy during this very difficult time,” a spokesman for Woody Johnson said in a statement.
