It took them a few extra days, but the Colts activated LaRon Landry.
The team announced they activated the veteran safety from the exempt/commissioner permission list, along with activating tackle Xavier Nixon from injured reserve/designated for return.
They could have made the move a week ago after his PED suspension was lifted, but had the exemption spot for an extra week.
To make the room on the roster, they waived cornerback Jalil Brown and tackle Jamon Meredith from the active roster and waived fullback Stanley Havili from reserve/physically unable to perform after he failed his physical. They also swapped out practice squad wide receivers, signing Eric Thomas and releasing Chandler Jones (no not that one).
Landry started the first four games this year before his suspension, but it’s easy to argue they’ve been better without him and with Sergio Brown in the lineup.
Landry is a big hitter and a physical player by reputation, though he’s also given up a bunch of big plays in his career. But he also got a big free agent contract from the Colts last offseason, and those guys generally play.
