The next time 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey catches a touchdown pass, he’ll have a unique achievement in NFL history.
McCaffrey has 36 career receiving touchdowns, tying him with Marshall Faulk for the most ever by a running back. On his next touchdown pass, McCaffrey will have 37, standing alone with the most ever.
Last season McCaffrey had seven touchdown, so it probably won’t take him long to get his first one this year, and get the NFL record all to himself.
McCaffrey caught 18 touchdown passes during his time with the Panthers and now has 18 with the 49ers, so his next touchdown catch will also give him more with his second team than he had with his first.
McCaffrey is closing in on 100 total touchdowns in his career: With 62 rushing touchdowns to go with his 36 receiving touchdowns, he has 98 touchdowns through his first nine NFL seasons.
